About

The Bay of Pigs Museum (Museo de la Brigada 2506) is located at 1338 SW 8 ST (temporary operating location), and is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the Bay of Pigs Invasion. The museum commemorates the failed 1961 invasion of Cuba by Cuban exiles who were trained and supported by the U.S. government in an attempt to overthrow Fidel Castro's regime. The invasion, known as "La Batalla de Playa Girón" in Cuba, resulted in the defeat of Brigade 2506, which was made up of the Cuban exiles.

The museum houses various exhibits, including memorabilia, photos, documents, and personal artifacts related to the invasion. It also serves as a gathering place for veterans of Brigade 2506 and their families, preserving the memory of this pivotal event in Cuban and U.S. history.

The Bay of Pigs Museum and Library is a non-profit organization and operates with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners. It is also sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
